The Standing Lateral Stretch is amazing for releasing tightness, but it takes focus to avoid common pitfalls. Using just your bodyweight to decompress your back, the most frequent mistake is leaning forward or twisting your hips just to reach lower. When you pay close attention to your form, you prevent your torso from collapsing and truly open up your entire side body with total precision. Keep both feet planted evenly on the floor and feel the stretch travel cleanly along your side without straining your lower spine. By catching yourself if your pelvis shifts awkwardly, you make sure your rear muscles lengthen exactly as intended. Mindful positioning ensures you gain flexibility while keeping your joints safe and comfortable.
1. Stand with feet wider than hip-width apart and knees slightly bent. 2. Place your right hand on your hip and lift your left arm vertically. 3. Lean your torso to the right, keeping weight evenly distributed on both legs. 4. Return to the center position and repeat on the other side.

- Keep your legs stable during the stretch. - Lean directly to the side, avoiding leaning forward or backward. - Feel the stretch in the oblique, without forcing the range of motion.
