To build volume in your calves without placing unnecessary strain on your back, the lever seated calf press is your ideal choice. The secret to progressing here isn't maxing out the weight plates on the machine right away, but mastering the full range of motion. Start with a moderate load on this press that lets you feel a deep stretch when lowering your heels and an intense squeeze at the top. As your strength increases, scale up the weight gradually. Working with this lever machine ensures targeted, controlled movement, guaranteeing that your calves do all the heavy lifting without sacrificing clean form.
1. Sit on the machine and place the balls of your feet on the footplate, knees under the knee pad, with your heels hanging off. 2. Press the weight up by extending your ankles, raising your heels as high as possible. 3. Pause at the top, squeezing your calf muscles. 4. Slowly lower your heels back down until you feel a stretch in your calves.

- Keep your knees under the pad and your heels hanging off. - Press through the balls of your feet, not your toes, to maximize calf engagement. - Squeeze your calves at the top of the movement. - Lower your heels as far down as possible to achieve a full stretch.
