The Diagonal Lunge is a dynamic variation that fits perfectly into your leg warm-up routine or as a high-intensity finisher at the end of your workout. Working this diagonal pattern using only your body weight fires up your quadriceps and glutes in a completely different way compared to standard linear movements. Executing it before heavy lifts primes your joints and enhances hip stability. Alternatively, placing this movement at the very end of your session helps you fully fatigue the muscle fibers in your glutes and quadriceps with volume, providing a comprehensive functional stimulus without needing any extra equipment.
1. Stand tall with feet together, hands on your hips, and core engaged. 2. Take a long step forward and to the right at a 45-degree angle, lowering your hips until your right thigh is parallel to the floor. 3. Pause at the bottom of the lunge, ensuring your front knee is aligned with your toes. 4. Push through your right heel to return to the center standing position and repeat on the opposite side.

- Step at a 45-degree angle to target the inner thigh and glute medius more effectively. - Ensure your front knee tracks directly over your ankle, not collapsing inward. - Keep your torso as vertical as possible to maintain a straight line through your spine. - Drive through your front heel to return to the starting position.
