Stepping over the weight to execute the barbell Jefferson squat gives you a unique physical feedback compared to traditional squat variations. Straddling the barbell and holding it with one hand in front and one behind forces you to immediately tune in to your center of balance. As you drive upward, you feel an intense asymmetrical effort focused right on your glutes and quadriceps, demanding complete core control to keep your torso stable. The challenge lies in preventing the bar from twisting, which means you must exert full body awareness and leg strength to guide the load smoothly. It is a fantastic exercise for understanding how to stabilize and command your posture under tension.
1. Stand over a bar on the floor with your feet on each side. 2. Bend over by bending your knees and grip the bar with one hand in front and the other behind. 3. Keep your torso straight and parallel to the floor during the movement. 4. Stand up by pushing with your feet and repeat.

- Keep your back straight and your chest elevated during the entire lift. - The strength should come from your legs and hips, not your back. - Keep your head in a neutral line with your spine.
